Most plans cover partial hospitalization when a clinical assessment supports it, usually with authorization before the first day. Psychoeducation is integral to our New Hampshire PHP Program. Patients learn about addiction and how it can impact not only the body but also the mind. They also learn to identify negative thoughts and habits that may be associated with their addiction. With this knowledge, strategies can be developed to help patients overcome challenges and aid in successful recovery.

Full clinical days on weekdays, then home at night. A day at our Londonderry center combines group therapy, individual counseling, psychoeducation about how addiction works, skill-building sessions and regular evaluations of your progress, with medication management and medication-assisted treatment built in when they fit. It is about 20 or more hours a week, our most structured level of care, and the same clinicians stay with you when you step down to IOP.

At Clear Steps Recovery, Day Treatment (PHP) is often a few weeks before stepping down to IOP, and the timing is set by progress rather than a fixed calendar. Insurance carriers usually authorize partial hospitalization a set number of days at a time and review progress before approving more, and our clinicians handle those reviews. The step down is planned with you before it happens, so support never stops abruptly.

For the right person, yes. PHP gives most of the clinical support of a residential program without the overnight stay or the room-and-board cost, which matters for people stepping down from detox, dealing with a co-occurring mental health condition, or needing daily contact early on. If you are medically stable and need to keep working, IOP or Evening IOP is often the better fit. A clinical assessment, often the same day you call, tells you plainly which one.

Hours and intensity. PHP, which we call Day Treatment, is full clinical days on weekdays, about 20 or more hours a week. IOP is about nine to twelve hours a week, by day or on Monday through Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 pm. Both are outpatient, so you live at home either way, with the same Londonderry team. Day Treatment runs full weekdays, so most people take medical leave or arrange work around it for a few weeks. If stepping away is not possible, Evening IOP meets Monday through Thursday from 6 to 9 pm at the same Londonderry center, and a clinician will tell you which level your situation calls for. Treatment is confidential and nothing is shared with an employer without your written consent.

Sometimes. Heavy daily drinking, benzodiazepine dependence or a history of withdrawal seizures means medical detox comes first. Detox is not provided on site at Clear Steps Recovery. We arrange it with a partner facility, or through The Doorway NH by dialing 211, and plan your first day of Day Treatment for when it is complete. Many people, though, start PHP directly when their assessment shows they are medically stable.
