Insurance Accepted in Massachusetts

Massachusetts funds substance use treatment for uninsured and underinsured residents through the Department of Public Health's Bureau of Substance Addiction Services, and the free, confidential Massachusetts Substance Use Helpline, (800) 327-5050 or helplinema.org, can tell you which programs have state-funded openings and help you understand MassHealth or Health Connector options. At our Needham center, self-pay is handled case by case, and admissions gives you a figure before anything is scheduled.

MassHealth covers substance use treatment, including outpatient levels of care, through its ACO and managed-care plans, and coverage at our Needham program depends on your specific MassHealth plan. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is not on the list of plans accepted at our Needham program today, but call anyway: we check every plan with the carrier in minutes at no cost, and plan lists change. If your card is Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield from New Hampshire, our Londonderry center accepts it. Most Blue Cross plans cover inpatient rehab and detox when medically necessary with prior authorization, and we help arrange those with partner facilities when needed.

Call the member services number on your card and ask about the provider by name, search your plan's online directory, or let admissions do it: we verify your benefits directly with the carrier in minutes at no cost and tell you whether we are in network for your plan at Needham, along with your deductible and copay. Our Needham program works with Harvard Pilgrim, Mass General Brigham Health Plan, Optum, Point32Health, TRICARE, Tufts, United Healthcare and VA Community Care.
